The Original Dr Doolittle's Finest Pastilles
Once upon a time... that’s how all fairy tales begin – and so does our story ...at the beginning of the 20th century.
Dr. Doolittle, the man who invented our soft and chewable pastilles,
lived in a small town in the North of England. He was a simple chemist
and he only left his beloved shop to sleep and eat in his little
one-roomed flat above the shop.
Once a week – and sometimes on Sundays – he pursued his hobby. He was
the organist for the local church choir. He himself had no talent for
singing; but he was all the more mindful and attentive with regard to
his friends’ singing voices.
If they became hoarse from all the singing or had a “lump” in their
throats, he suffered with them. There had to be something that would
make the throat and vocal chords supple and soft, something to
“lubricate” them.
This is how the idea arose to find a natural throat pastille as a remedy for this problem.
It was the moment when Dr. Doolittle’s Finest Pastilles were born.
Obsessed by this thought he started to work day and night in his little
herb kitchen and so he succeeded to bring the first sample pastilles to
the next choir rehearsal. The excellent result encouraged him to
continue to refine the recipe.
The final result is our soothing and savoury Dr. Doolittle’s Finest
Pastilles which we supply today in a variety of flavours and which have
been highly appreciated by a lot of loyal customers.
